About All Star Rafting
Established in 1993, All Star has grown from a small raft rental company on the Deschutes River to running guided raft trips on 5 different rivers in Oregon and Southwest Washington. All Star has always been and continues to be owner run and operated because we believe in having a hands on approach and, quite honestly, because we love what we do. We also believe our customers won't find a better trip on any of the rivers that we run. Our highest priority is making sure you have a fun, safe trip at a fair price. Whitewater rafting is a unique way to experience the beauty of the
Pacific Northwest and gives a perspective unlike anything
else. Watching a river go by as you sit on the bank is nice but
sitting in a raft on the river and watching the bank go by can transform
your view of the world and how you relate to it. This is what we want
to share with you.
Our Staff
Each All Star river guide is CPR/First Aid certified, registered with the state Marine Boards and has completed the All Star Training Course. They are knowledgeable about the rivers we run and about the local history and ecology. For many of our guides, rafting only rounds out their involvement in the outdoor recreation industry- they are accomplished fishermen, kayakers, skiers/snowboarders, and surfers. For others, rafting balances our their time in the "real world" as a teacher, small business owner, photographer, EMT, medical school student, or painter. We know how special it is that we get to share these amazing rivers with the people that join us, and we truly enjoy this river lifestyle.
Our Customers
Our customers are folks just like YOU- people with a sense of adventure and also self proclaimed "nervous Nellys", folks on leisurely vacations and day trippers from Portland or Bend. We have a lot of families that come with us, groups of friends, church groups, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and we are proud that we have taken LOTS of people rafting for their first time. We think it is pretty great that approximately 80% of our customer base is return customer and direct referrals! Many of our customers come two or three times a season- each time creating a new story to tell.
Our Commitment
Whitewater rafting is a low environmental impact sport (another reason to love rafting!) and we are committed to minimizing our impact in every aspect of our business. We have recycling available for our customers and compost the food scraps from our kitchen and our guide houses. Last year we started using compostable plates and silverware for our lunches and use only non-disposible items on our overnight rafting trips. While on the river and at camp we follow Leave No Trace Principles, stay a respectful distance from the wildlife we encounter, and teach our guests to do the same!
The Deschutes River Clean-Up
In cooperation with Oregon SOLV and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), All Star Rafting leads the annual Deschutes River Clean-Up. Bringing together rafting outfitters and river enthusiasts, we remove trash along the river corridor through the high use area near Maupin. We want to make sure that the river we love stays clean and healthy! If you would like to be a part of this year's Deschutes River Clean-Up, Sunday September 19th, 2010, please give us a call at 800-909-7238 or email Amy at
