Deschutes Full Day Guided Whitewater River Rafting Trip Itinerary 

Our day begins by meeting us at the All Star office in Maupin at 10:00 am. Please arrive 15 minutes early to get checked in, get your sunscreen on and get ready to go!  We have a short ride up river to the put in at Harpham Flat, where your guide will walk you through an orientation and safety talk.  Once on the water, your guide will show you the correct paddling techniques needed to navigate the river and to get the most fun out of your day of rafting.

The first half of the day includes running Wapinitia and Boxcar rapids and perfecting our water fighting skills.  At around noon we stop along the river’s edge for a delicious BBQ lunch.  After lunch it’s back to the boats for more white water excitement!  Surf City, Oak Springs, White River, Upper and Lower Elevator are just a few of the rapids that we’ll encounter.  For those who want to, we stop for an exciting swim through Upper Elevator, a class II wave train.  Seeing 5 foot high waves from eye level is an awesome experience!  Between the rapids there is the opportunity to swim, relax and enjoy the scenery and wildlife as we float along in calm water.

At Sandy Beach we get in the bus for a quick portage around the awesome class VI Sherars Falls.  We put back in a few miles below the falls for three more exciting rapids (Upper and Lower Trestles and Wreck rapids) while enjoying the scenic lower river canyon.  Our trip ends at Pine Tree take out at approximately 4:00 pm.  We provide transportation back to the All Star office where you can get changed and organized for your trip home.

Directions

Our office is located at 405 Deschutes Ave, Maupin, OR, 97037, in downtown Maupin, next door to the hardware store. 

From Portland: Allow 2 to 2.5 hours travel time.

• Take Interstate 84 East until exit 87 (the last exit in The Dalles), following signs for Dufur/ Bend.
• Turn Right off of the exit.
• After .2 miles, turn left onto Hwy 197 South.
• Follow 197S 38 miles into downtown Maupin.  
• We are located on the right side of the road in downtown at 405 Deschutes Ave. (Deschutes Ave is Hwy 197).  

ATTENTION: The normal route from Portland is to take Hwy 26 over Mt. Hood. However, 26 will have road construction in various spots between Sandy and Hwy 216  for the remainder of the summer, and delays are 15 to 30 minutes. If taking Hwy 26, please allow yourself an extra half hour travel time. Taking Interstate 84 is normally about the same travel time as 26 is without construction.

From Madras go north on Hwy. 97 to Hwy. 197 to Maupin. As you come to the base of the hill and enter Maupin, cross the bridge and continue up into town on Hwy. 197. We are located on the left side of the road in downtown Maupin at 405 Deschutes Ave. (Deschutes Ave is Hwy 197). Allow 1 to 1.25 hours travel time.
