North Santiam River; Class IV+
The North Santiam River from Big Cliff Dam to Mill City is an awesome 11 mile run with numerous class II-IV rapids. The rapids here are the best in the Northwest at this time of year as the Army Corps of Engineers drains Detroit Lake. The first part of the trip, which starts at Big Cliff Dam, has demanding class IV rapids for the experienced, adventure seeking paddler including Niagara and the Narrows. The second half of the trip keeps you on your toes with Spencer's Hole, Carnivore and Mill City Falls. Great fall scenery and challenging rapids combine to make this an extraordinary day!
Wet suits and paddle jackets are provided as well as a deluxe deli style lunch, shuttle, all boating equipment and our skilled guides. We run these trips in September and October.
